Clinical Psychologist

Emily is a Clinical Psychologist with experience working in public and private psychiatric hospital settings. She concurrently works in the Health Department at the Sexual Assault Resource Centre, providing specialist treatment to people that have experienced childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault. Emily enjoys the opportunity to treat the wide range of presentations that working in private practice affords her. She provides LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent affirmative psychotherapy and works with both adolescents (+16yrs) and adults. Emily is a warm and attuned therapist who works to develop a close therapeutic alliance with her clients. Having seen the benefits of engaging in her own therapy in early adulthood, she understands the importance of providing both a nurturing and productive space for her clients to explore their concerns.  

Emily is passionate about ethical practice and consequently employs evidenced-based modalities. Her primary treatment frameworks are Schema Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. Emily is experienced in the assessment and treatment of mood disorders, adjustment issues/stress management, personality disorders, complex trauma/post-traumatic stress disorder, family of origin issues and related psychological concerns such as low self-esteem and emotion dysregulation. Emily also works with individuals who might not be experiencing acute mental health issues but are wanting to better understand themselves and enhance their wellbeing. She is passionate about the role of healthy lifestyle factors in improving wellbeing and enjoys supporting clients to make changes to enhance their vitality.

Emily provides guest lectures on responding to sexual assault disclosures to clinical psychology trainees. She also provides education and training in her role at SARC to professionals in the areas of responding to sexual assault disclosures and vicarious trauma. Emily provides supervision to early career psychologists and other health professionals wanting to increase their knowledge and skill set in the areas of trauma and sexual assault.
